7 Clues Of Successful Coaches

Recently, I was asked a question that went something like this:

“What are all of your *success story*
clients doing that I’m missing?”

Perhaps you’ve been in the ‘coaching game for a while’ and you seem to be doing a lot of the right things…

…but something’s just not “clicking” for you.

I’ve helped coaches get clients for years and watched them grow their businesses to over 6 figures.

I’ve also interviewed very successful coaches (making millions), and found these people all have some things in common.

Here are a few of them for you to consider…

*** Clues of Successful Coaches ***

1. Successful coaches love to write or love to speak.

This isn’t much of a surprise since most coaches market through writing, or speaking, or both.

I grew my business from speaking much more than from writing in the early days. (I used to hate writing).

Speaking has more impact when you’re first starting out because it puts you in front of people quickly.

But, writing is better long term because as your email list grows…

…you’ll be able to connect with thousands or tens of thousands of people with each email you send.

2. They have less 1-on-1 coaching, and more group programs and products.

The most successful coaches have few or even no 1-on-1 clients.

Now, I’m a BIG fan of 1-on-1 coaching and I still offer 1-on-1 work (at a very high price)…

…but most of my focus is on products and group programs.

When you’re starting out, it’s actually easier to generate revenue from 1-on-1 coaching.

But, as your business grows (and your email list grows), you’ll make more by offering different things at different prices.

3. Successful coaches enjoy marketing.

They see marketing as a fun game.

They want to learn more and more ways to make it work better.

Less successful coaches see marketing as a burden.

They usually don’t think about the benefits people get from the marketing they do.

And they certainly don’t enjoy it.

When I made the shift from ‘marketing as a necessary evil’, to ‘marketing as a fun and rewarding endeavor’ my business jumped to a much higher level!

4. They enroll clients into long term relationships.

Most successful coaches enroll clients into 6 month or 1 year terms (I know someone who enrolls people in 3 year terms).

When I made the switch from ‘month-to-month’ coaching or even 3 month agreements and moved to 6 months (and later to 1 year) terms…

…my coaching business took big leaps forward.

Why?

When you enroll people into coaching for longer periods, you seem more serious.

Your clients get better results, and you don’t have to keep looking for new clients because your current clients stay much longer.

5. They are willing to invest in their education.

They eagerly seek out and learn the next ‘important thing’ that will help them break through to the next level in their business.

They see this as a business expense.

And when they make an investment into their business, they look for a return on their investment.

They aren’t afraid to take risks on their education either.

They don’t just buy every product or program on the market, but they do buy the ones they’ve identified as important.

6. They believe with all their hearts and souls they provide tremendous value to their clients.

They know for certain they are worth the fees they charge and they are fantastic at what they do.

They also have supreme confidence and CERTAINTY they can make a difference in their client’s lives.

This certainty comes from experience, but also comes from having a positive attitude about their work.

7. They see mistakes and failures as part of the “trial and error” process.

Let’s face it: running a coaching business isn't easy.

There are going to be failures and bumps in the road along the way.

I know I had a lot of bumps early in my career…

…to the point I had trouble paying the mortgage and car payment.

But top coaches see mistakes as “errors” in the trial and error process.

They don’t see it as the end of the world.

I hope this list helps you achieve your coaching dreams!

Big Love,
Christian
